HOW TO CREATE THE BEST “VIRTUAL” TEAM?

Not every employee wants to work in an office (and most often among them are the most talented unique specialists). In addition, renting real estate is not the cheapest. Therefore, the decision suggests itself: remote work. So how to organize remote employment correctly?

Hire those who have already worked remotely. In the process of recruiting a team, it makes sense to give preference to those who have already had successful remote work experience (those who have always worked exclusively in the office will find it harder to adapt and get used to). In addition, look for those who really love to work remotely – everyone will benefit.

Pay attention to those employees who do not need tight control. Those specialists who can work independently and at the same time not lose their effectiveness are in themselves a treasure and a find. If you need to “virtualize” only part of the team, then employees of this type are ideal candidates. They can be the source of savings for both rental funds and “managing resources”, since they need to be managed to a minimum. Of course, it will be necessary to monitor and evaluate their work in any case, but in the case of responsible employees, this will not be possible too often.

Simplify the project communication process. Internet project management tools (such as Trac, Redmine, Basecamp and others) are excellent assistants in facilitating the interaction between remote employees, allowing all specialists to track changes in the implementation of necessary tasks.

Create an electronic communication system. Instead of taking the whole team away from business and dragging it into the conference room every time you have a stunning idea and immediately want to share it, use video chat rooms. Programs like Skype or Google+ can simplify communication significantly, not only between remote employees, but also between office employees as well.

Think about what types of work can actually be performed remotely. Programmers, engineers, developers, designers, accountants – those employees who can be sent to work from home without any damage. In the end, they spend most of their working day at their computers, so there is no particular difference in where this computer stands. But before you “remove” from the office of those who interact with customers, you need to think very seriously.
